The Associació Antic Gremi de Revenedors, 1447 annually awards the Antic Gremi Revenedors de Barcelona Research Grant to promote research, study, and the expansion of knowledge regarding the labor history of Barcelona and this entity, founded in the 15th century and still operational today. The grant is awarded to the best unpublished project dedicated to exploring a specific period, theme, or event in the city’s history or the Gremi de Tenders Revenedors de Barcelona between 1447 and 1850, with a €5,000 prize.
The 2020 winning project is The Guild and Confraternity of Saint Michael of Retailers Between Two Centuries (16th-17th): Politics, Economy, and Society, by Laura Miquel Milian and Pol Bridgewater Mateu. This is a historically rigorous study of the political, social, and economic structure of the Confraternity of Saint Michael of Retailers from the late 16th to early 17th century, based on the confraternity’s records preserved in the Historical Archive of the City of Barcelona, along with other complementary documentary series.
